foundProjects is a photo blog dedicated to these derelict projects that solider on through the march of time


This is a blog of projects that have survived at NYU/ITP. I say survived, because these projects have been not been maintained, rather abandoned by their creators. However, despite this neglect and the constant shuffling, reorganizing, and reconstruction of the space that they occupy, they have managed to persevere. They live on, with no outside support, having achieved a longevity they were not designed to sustain.

Where a Wild Thing is Winter 2007 Tunnel in 445 Caleb Clark Originally part of the “Tales of Grim” project (http://itp.nyu.edu/show/winter2006/detail.php?project_id=1146), Caleb made a clay Where the Wild Things Are figurine that was never used. “We were working in Room 445 one day when I realized I wasn’t going to use this little friendly monster I’d made, but I didn’t want to throw him out. I looked up and there was that medieval looking arch going through the brick wall to the hallway. It was perfect! I thought maybe if I hid him up there nobody would find him and he’d have a home. Sure enough, he’s still there!” “I put it in the brick arch off in Room 445. It’s still there!” says Clark.

Originally part of the “Tales of Grim” project (http://itp.nyu.edu/show/winter2006/detail.php?project_id=1146), Caleb made a clay Where the Wild Things Are figurine that was never used.

“We were working in Room 445 one day when I realized I wasn’t going to use this little friendly monster I’d made, but I didn’t want to throw him out. I looked up and there was that medieval looking arch going through the brick wall to the hallway. It was perfect! I thought maybe if I hid him up there nobody would find him and he’d have a home. Sure enough, he’s still there!”

Baby Jaki Dec 2005 Japanese Room Rob Fauldi In a fit of frustration while setting up for an ITP Show, Rob takes a picture from Red’s Application Class and sticks it to the ceiling near where he is working.  Rob comes back to check on Baby Jaki every so often.

Men on Electrical Pipe circa 2006-2007 Room 447 Artist Unknown I noticed these little men, climbing the burnt out electrical cables (to freedom perhaps?) my first summer at ITP, 2007.  According to Kate Hartman, they were not there when she had a project in the Spring of 2006.
